We can’t always control what happens to us or around us, but we can strengthen ourselves to face those barriers and move forward in taking charge of our lives. You deserve to live in your strengths and the pursuit of what matters most to you.
Therapy style
The core of my work revolves around finding, achieving, or strengthening what brings your life meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. My approach is to meet you where you are, pinpoint where you’d like to be, and start untangling the parts of life that keep you from bridging that gap. Whether it’s the past bubbling up in unhelpful ways now, your own self-doubts and self-criticism, complications in your relationships or stressful developments in the world around us, a health/medical issue, or something else, my goal is to empower your strengths and resilience to walk through these experiences toward what really matters to you.
I work with a range of ages and issues, often including the period of development ranging from ages 10 to middle-adulthood. I commonly work with anxiety (both general and specific, such as social and performance anxiety), depression, self-worth, difficult life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, difficult family/relationship dynamics, and issues related to diversity and discrimination. I believe in affirming my clients’ identities and providing a safe, nonjudgmental safe for you to explore who you are and what you want your life to be.

What do you do in therapy?
Each therapist may approach therapy differently, and different styles might work better for different clients. With me, therapy is a very down-to-earth process. We’re two people having a candid conversation. Sessions start with a greeting and a general check-in; we might celebrate a recent success, identify a setback, or even talk about something funny your cat did. We’ll then move into conversations connected to your therapeutic goals. While we may identify a few strategies for you to practice or reflect on between sessions, I don’t typically give concrete homework.
What is the first therapy session like?
The first session tends to be a little different from a “regular” session – it focuses on gathering specific information, explaining the therapeutic process, answering your questions about therapy, and agreeing on a therapy plan. I’ll ask about your family, your medical and mental health history, your relationships, your education, and things like that. We’ll figure out how therapy can be most helpful for you, how often to meet, and what feels most important to focus on.
How much does therapy cost?
My rate is $240 per session. While we do not take insurance, we may be able to provide you a superbill with which your insurance provider may be able to reimburse a portion of these costs.
How does therapy help?
Therapy provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share your authentic self, gain insight into areas of difficulty, and identify opportunities to enact change. Through our shared processing, challenging, and empowering, you can develop a stronger understanding of how your thoughts, feelings, actions, and experiences all intersect to affect your mental health. Over time, we can use these observations to make the changes you’re looking for in your life.
What if I try but it’s not helpful? That is okay! It takes a great deal of courage to try therapy, and sometimes a client-therapist match just doesn’t click. It’s nobody’s fault and it doesn’t mean therapy isn’t for you, it just means you might benefit from a different therapist or style. I am always happy to have these conversations! We might first explore whether tweaks in our work could make the changes you need; if not, I am more than happy to help you navigate referrals to find a new therapist to try out.
